19 People Shot Over The Weekend In Baltimore.
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A call for action by city leaders and city residents after a bloody weekend in Baltimore. Nineteen people shot, eight dead in just two days.

A teenager died in a spray of bullets. Several other people were injured. The commissioner tells WJZ he has some strong leads. He called the violence across the city unacceptable, and tried to reassure people the department is on top of it.
Baltimore’s police commissioner embraced the mother-in-law of one of eight people murdered in the city over the weekend. One of a staggering 19 people shot.
“I’m just scared. I want to move. I just want to get away from around here. I just want to live somewhere in peace,” said Joanna Harbell, victim’s mother-in-law.“Whoever did this, I just hope they catch them. Because it’s going to be on their conscience. They’re not going to live with it, and they’re not going to get away with it,” she continued.
The commissioner walked the block, with TV cameras in tow, and defended his crime-fighting strategy.
“It’s guns and gangs is our focus. That hasn’t changed for us. We will stay on top of violent repeat offenders,” said Commissioner Anthony Batts, Baltimore City Police.
“This is a spike. We will respond to the spike, and we will be very assertive about responding to the spike,” he continued.
“I’ve seen the transformation of this community,” said Glen Ross, McElderry Park Community Association.
Glenn Ross is a community activist in McElderry Park, and says much of the violence stems from drug wars.
“Now, you have these grown men that’s getting children to hold their drugs, their money and their weapons,” he said. “What people need to realize, it’s everybody’s problem. Recognize homicide is an epidemic. This is really a disease that’s tearing our neighborhoods apart.”Tanya Waller, whose cousin was gunned down, is fed up–and wants action.
“That’s my blood they took from us. That was my little cousin,” she said. “I’m tired of the violence. It needs to stop. We need to come together. We’re hurting one another. It’s time to stop.”
But she’s not sure if it ever will.
The commissioner said he’s going to be working more closely with Maryland State Police and also the U.S. Attorney’s Office to target the worst violent repeat offenders.
The city’s murder rate was about the same as this time last year before the spike in violence over the weekend.
Jersey City 17-year-old shot in face during game of Russian Roulette, police say
A 17-year-old Jersey City boy was shot in the face early today during a game of Russian Roulette with another boy, according to police reports.
A juvenile, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a firearm by a minor, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, police said.
The 17-year-old Claremont Avenue boy is in stable condition at Jersey City Medical Center, police said.
Police responded at 2:44 a.m. to a call from a resident at 149 Danforth Ave who said he heard shots inside his apartment.
A 15-year-old girl who lives at the apartment told police that the 17-year-old and the shooter went into the bathroom to play "Russian Roulette" with a gun the shooter said he found in a vacant lot, police reports said, adding the girl did not alert adults.
Residents at the apartment told police they then heard a loud bang and saw the victim come out of the bathroom, bleeding profusely.
The juvenile who fired the weapon, initially fled the scene, but at 3:30 a.m. he returned with his legal guardian and turned himself over the police, reports said.
Immediately following the shooting, the shooter placed the .38-caliber weapon in a garbage can across the street from the apartment building. Police did not find the weapon, reports said.

36 Yeard Old Lil Snupe Killer Tony Holden Found & Arrested & Charged With 1st Degree Murder
According to Louisiana's Winnfield City Police Department, the alleged shooter in the recently signed Dream Chaser rapper Lil Snupe's murder is a 36-year-old man named Tony Holden. He was taken into custody and charged with 1st Degree Murder for the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Addarren Ross (also known as "Lil Snupe.")
The shots apparently went off during a dispute over a video game at an apartment in Louisiana at approximately 4AM on Thursday.

The Shreveport Times reports that authorities have ID’d 36-year-old Tony D. Holden as Snupe’s killer. Holden has been charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Warrants have been issued for each of the aforementioned charges. It’s being reported that Snupe was shot over a bet on a video game. .
“We are told they were betting on a video game,” Winnfield police Lt. Charles Curry told the Shreveport Times. ”Supposedly he (Holden) robbed him of money.”
