Miley Cyrus Defending Weed Vs, Alcohol.

Former child star Miley Cyrus has defended her decision to smoke weed, insisting it is far less dangerous than alcohol.

The singer/actress, who shot to fame as Disney's Hannah Montana, landed in hot water in 2010 when she was caught on film allegedly smoking pot from a bong.

She has also recently joined cannabis fan Snoop Dogg in the studio for a track called Ashtrays and Heartbreak, and has now opened up on her feelings on using the drug.

In a candid new interview with Rolling Stone, she was asked if she is a "stoner", and the 20-year-old replied, "You can't ask someone that and expect them to say yes. I did a song with Snoop Dogg called Ashtrays and Heartbreak, so people can put it together for themselves.

"I think alcohol is way more dangerous than marijuana. People can be mad at me for saying that, but I don't care. I've seen a lot of people spiral down with alcohol, but I've never seen that happen with weed.

"As long as it isn't illegal, there are far more dangerous things... And it's legal in the state of California, so I'm happy to live in California, a place where you can be whoever you want to be."

Gandolfini was traveling in Italy on vacation when he fell ill; conflicting reports have him suffering either a heart attack or a stroke. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Lin, and an eight-month-old daughter, Liliana, as well as a son, Michael, from a previous marriage.

HBO confirmed his death in a statement: "We're all in shock and feeling immeasurable sadness at the loss of a beloved member of our family. He was a special man, a great talent, but more importantly a gentle and loving person who treated everyone no matter their title or position with equal respect. He touched so many of us over the years with his humor, his warmth, and his humility. Our hearts go out to his wife and children during this terrible time. He will be deeply missed by all of us."

While arguments about which city's or team's fans often tend to be a dumb, parochial domain, and while it sometimes feels like Miami catches a #BadSportsTown rap that's a bit overstated, I think we can agree that leaving an NBA Finals game before its completion is kind of a bad look. Let alone a game in which your hometown team would be eliminated with a loss. Let alone a game in which your hometown team fought back from seven points down at the start of the fourth quarter, that was a one-possession affair from just inside the eight-minute mark all the way into the final minute, and in which said hometown team held a three-point lead with less than two minutes remaining.

And yet, a number of members of the AmericanAirlines Arena faithful on hand to cheer for the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs did choose to exit with the game still in the balance in the final minute. Man steals 92-year-old's glasses and Bible in Manhattan

 

A 92-year-old man who was mugged for his Bible and a pair of glasses at his Chelsea apartment building said his life was “beautiful” before the attack, but now he’s not so sure.

Ricardo Velez, — a devout Jehovah’s Witness — said he had just finished dinner with a friend when a heartless bandit followed him into the W. 18th St. building and knocked him to the ground shortly before midnight on Monday.
“I saw him push me,” Velez said Thursday from his bed at Bellevue Hospital, where he is recovering from a broken hip. “I fell on my hip on the right side and was trying to get up, but I couldn’t. I opened the second door and started yelling, ‘Help! Help!’”
His longtime neighbor, Radmes Hernandez, 82, was alerted to the cries after his toy poodle, Sheila Black, heard them and began yapping.
When Hernandez swung open the door, the pooch darted down the stairs and found the frail Velez curled up on the floor and reeling in pain.
“Somebody mugged me,” Velez told his worried neighbor. “Somebody hit me on the head. My hip hurts.”
The suspect — wearing dark clothing and a red baseball cap — fled the scene with a brown bag containing the elderly man’s Bible and a pair of glasses, but dropped a pair of scissors near the front door.
“I wouldn’t have heard the yelling if it wasn’t for (my dog),” Hernandez said.
Hernandez said he called 911 and that emergency workers quickly rushed Velez to the hospital.
Velez said he moved to New York from Puerto Rico with his parents when he was just 8 years old and has never been attacked while living in the city.
“I used to think it’s a beautiful life, but everything comes to an end. And that’s what the other day was,” the injured man said.
“I used to go here or there, shopping, everywhere,” Velez continued. “I have a bad habit: I talk to everyone. In my neighborhood, I love to walk around. Now I don’t know if I’ll be able to move around like that again.”
He said he was devastated to lose the most prized book in his collection.
“The Bible was extremely important,” he said. “It was leather-bound and well-printed. I loved that Bible.”
Hernandez said he hopes cops cuff the crook soon.
“There’s a lot of bad people in the streets,” Hernandez said. “There are a lot of crazy people. ... It shouldn’t have happened to (Velez).
“They need to catch this guy.”

As police continued to hunt for the suspect, the reward for his capture swelled to $22,000.
