Bleeding Cool reports that a copy of The X-Men #1 has been sold at The Heritage auction for a record breaking $492,937.50. The CGC 9.8 copy of the landmark comic book is the highest graded copy known to be in existence, with only one other listed on the CGC census. This decimated the previous record price that a CGC 9.6 copy went for back in 2011 ($200,000) and the Stan Lee/Jack Kirby comic now holds the honour of being the second highest price paid for a Silver Age comic. However, it's still a long way behind the $1.1 million paid for a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 9.6 in March 2011 (as you will hopefully know, that featured the first appearance of Spider-Man).... Also sold at the auction was the original Spider-Man #1 cover art by Todd McFarlane for $358,500 and the original cover art for McFarlane's Amazing Spider Man #328 for $657,250.
