Sky News cameraman Mick Deane has been shot and killed in Egypt this morning.

Mick, 61, had worked for Sky for 15 years, based in Washington and then Jerusalem.

The married father of two was part of our team covering the violence in Cairo. The rest of the team are unhurt.

The Head of Sky News John Ryley described Mick as the very best of cameramen, a brilliant journalist and an inspiring mentor to many at Sky.

"Mick Deane was a really lovely, lovely guy," he said. "He was great fun to work with, he was an astonishingly good cameraman who took some brilliant pictures.

"But he also had a first class editorial brain. He had brilliant ideas.

"He was also good fun after the job was done. He was laid back, and I'm really going to miss him, like lots of people here."

Sky's Foreign Affairs Editor Tim Marshall called Mick "a friend, brave as a lion but what a heart… what a human being".

He added: "Micky was humorous in a dry way, he was wise and when you're on the road with small teams, people like that are diamonds to be with.

"Our hearts go out to his family. He died doing what he'd done so brilliantly for decades."

Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted: "I am saddened to hear of the death of cameraman Mick Deane, covering Egyptian violence.

"My thoughts are with his family and the Sky News team."

A California man accused of sawing off his own hands after he viciously stabbed his father appeared in court to face an attempted murder rap Tuesday — after he had the severed extremities reattached.
A heavily bandaged Jason Dunn, 27, was ordered held in lieu of $575,000 bail after he was arraigned on a slew of charges that include attempted murder and assault at Shasta County Superior Court for the bizarre attack on his father on June 17, The Redding Record Searchlight reported.

Dunn allegedly stabbed his 59-year-old dad, Gregory Dunn, with a pair of scissors multiple times to his neck, throat and upper body during a spat inside their Sheer Drive home in Redding.
The enraged son then marched into a shop on the property and sliced off both his hands with a radial saw, cops said.

Emergency workers arrived to find a wounded Gregory Dunn lying in the driveway with his bleeding son standing nearby with his hands severed at the wrists, cops said.
“After stabbing his father multiple times, Jason Dunn said he then used a power saw to sever both his hands,” wrote Det. Will Gardner of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office in a police report, according to the Redding Record Searchlight.
Both were rushed to local hospitals, where they were saved from the life-threatening wounds.
Sgt. Brian Jackson of the Redding Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit told CBS News that the arrest came after Jason Dunn underwent extensive surgery at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto.
Neighbors have said that they often heard the father and son arguing.
Jason Dunn is scheduled to appear in court again on Aug. 15.

SAN ANTONIO -- A father was tazed by San Antonio police while trying to save his infant boy from a house fire.

The incident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday during a house fire in the 100 block of Morningview Drive.

Investigators said the parents of the eight-month-old boy had dropped off their children at their grandparents' house. Somehow, a fire got started inside the home shortly thereafter.

The grandparents managed to grab one boy and rush to safety. That's when they realized one boy was still trapped inside.

Emergency crews and the children's parents arrived on the scene at around that time.

The boy's father tried several times to enter the burning home, but police held him back and ended up tazing him. SAPD said it was for his own safety.
The infant died from injuries sustained during the blaze.

Arson is under investigation. Police said the stories just don't add up.

No criminal charges have been filed.

The family is now looking for a new place to stay.

Chris brown's pops puts breezy/riri on blast: "i didn't want him & rihanna back together"

In Clinton Brown's perspective, Breezy is better off with any woman other than RiRi.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily News, Clinton Brown said he would prefer his hotheaded son stay away from the Barbadian bombshell who he infamously assaulted in 2009. "I personally really didn't want him and Rihanna back together," said Clinton Brown, 48. "You have to have a balance in a relationship. You have to have someone who is spontaneous and whimsical but you also have to have someone who is grounded and logical." That's certainly not the case with Rihanna and her boy toy. The singer's father also pointed out some notable R&B icons who had their lives cut short.
Clinton Brown worries the roller-coaster romance could fly off the rails and end in tragedy. "I hate to use examples, but Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse -- I mean I could go on and on!" He conceded that he understands Brown's attraction to the diva dubbed RiRi. "She's beautiful, she's exotic, she's successful," Clinton said. (New York Daily News)

Kevin Ware Has Emotional Reunion With Father.

Kevin Ware was celebrating Louisville's come-from-behind victory over Wichita State, the injured Louisville guard heard a familiar voice in the stands calling his name.
It belonged to his father, who lives in the Bronx and had not seen Ware in person for over a year.
Once Ware got permission from a police officer to have his father leap the barrier and join him on the floor, the two shared an emotional hug. Kevin Ware Sr. then told his son how proud he was for the bravery and maturity he has shown since breaking his lower right leg in gruesome fashion in the first half of last Sunday's Elite Eight victory over Duke.
"It was everything, honestly," Ware said. "I haven't seen my dad in a really long time. Him missing his flight earlier and still fighting to get here as quickly as he could, that meant everything to me
In the six days since he suffered his injury, Ware has received an outpouring of support from everyone from NBA stars, to everyday fans, to athletes who have suffered similar injuries. That continued during Saturday's games as numerous Louisville fans showed up at the Georgia Dome with homemade signs bearing get well wishes or with his last name spelled out on their chests.
Ware watched from the Louisville bench as his team fell behind by double digits in the second half before rallying behind reserve guards Luke Hancock and Tim Henderson to escape with a victory. TV cameras frequently panned to him agonizing with every miscue the Cardinals made and celebrating after every made basket or defensive stop.
"I was mad the entire game," Ware said. "They weren't getting out there defensively, and that is what got us to this point. It finally got to a point where they started playing defense a little bit. I even got on the court and told them this is going to make us win this game."
